This is a reminder that Spenceville will be closed from March 27th through April 4th for the annual Special Permit Turkey Hunt.  Plan your spring trips around those nine days.

I will be leading a series of Sierra Club hikes in Spenceville over the next several months.  These are being publicized as 'exploratory' as we are hiking into areas of Spenceville that I have not explored in depth.  We'll be looking for signs of prior use in attempting to gather pieces of Spenceville's past.

On April 11th we will head out to Fairy Falls, although we will take the back way in.  On May 1st we will again go exploring.

Our March 14th hike was well attended and Tim Worley, a Friends of Spenceville board member, showed us around the "Other Spenceville", the section to the north that is separate from the main wildlife area and is bisected by Hammonton Smartsville Road.  We had 19 people out for the day under beautiful skies and with incredible views of the buttes, the valley, and the snow capped coast range.

Call me at (530) 265-2666 or email info@spenceville.org for further details.
